Every day children participate in structured play. All of our primary one children are given opportunities to acquire the skills that will help them to develop as individuals. We provide the children with opportunities to be actively involved in practical, open-ended and challenging learning experiences that encourage creativity. All children take part in planning for new themes as well as reviewing and reflecting on what they have learned and created.

We begin each day with self-registration. There is a visual timetable as well as visual task boards for Literacy and Numeracy rotations, so pupils know the structure and routine of each day. These promote observation, independence and development of self-management skills.

We cover many themes throughout the school year. Some of these have included; Ourselves, Space, Noah’s Ark, Fairy Tales and Under the Sea.
