Our topics in Primary Three are Fruit, (Handa’s Surprise), Day and Night, Christmas, What’s the Forecast, Celebrations and Minibeasts. All topics are cross-curricular taking in all subject areas.

Healthy breaks are very important in Termoncanice and all Primary Three children are encouraged to partake. We recommend a piece of fruit.

Homework is an opportunity for you to support your child’s learning and to keep up to date with what is happening in the classroom. Children have written Literacy homework on a Monday to be completed for Wednesday. They will be given Numeracy homework on a Wednesday to be completed for Friday. Children have reading, spelling and key words every night. They should be encouraged to spend a short time each night learning number facts. All children have been given the school prayer book to help them with their night time prayers. Please don’t forget Primary Three children get tremendous benefit from being read to and with on a regular basis.

During the second term, your child will have the opportunity to participate in the Lift Off Reading Programme which is exclusive to Termoncanice. This provides an invaluable opportunity to develop reading fluency and an interest in and love of books. More information will be given at a parent information meeting prior to the launch of the programme.

The Primary Three teachers work closely together to plan and implement the curriculum. We believe that children learn best when they are happy and endeavour to provide stimulating lessons in a fun environment.
